Neural Circuits, Physiology, and Behavior

We study neural circuits that regulate motivated behavior. A major focus of the lab is understanding the connectivity and physiology of inputs that regulate the activity of dopamine neurons. We utilize optogenetics, imaging, transcriptomics, electrophysiology, CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis, and other advanced techniques to ask questions about gene function, neuronal excitability, synaptic connectivity and behavior.
